Vilnius. "Miraculous Christmas"

Тут же пошли в город. В кафе попили чай с блинами.

Вышли из кафе и гуляя по старому городу в 18 часов были у Башни Гедеминаса....и АХ! попали на стартовавшее в это время представление на стенах храма: 3D Projection "Miraculous Christmas" in Lithuania 2011 - YouTube.

Вот это был сюрприз - оказаться в нужном месте в нужное время!

Прогулялись после представления по Гедеминаса, попялились обалдевши на английский Marks & Spencer, доплелись до троллейбуса и поехали в гостиницу - силы были на исходе.

Hotel "Panorama", Vilnius.

Из окна комнаты отеля "Panorama" в Вильнюсе виден практически весь город- действительно открывается прекрасная панорама на центр со всеми его многочисленными соборами, костелами и даже небоскребами. За этот вид можно простить все недостатки отеля, где мы остановились на пути в Каунас.

Hotel "Panorama" in Vilnius. Literally Panorama! We had a really great view from our room of the Old Town: cathedrals, churches and skyscrapers - marvellous view over Vilnius! You can forgive all the shortcomings of the hotel, because you will be rewarded with an excellent vista of Vilnius, spend a while counting the churches.

Коляда.

Коляда праздновался в зимние святки с 25 декабря (поворот солнца на весну) по 5—6 января.
Накануне Нового года дети собирались колядовать под окнами богатых крестьян, величали хозяина в песнях, твердили имя Коляды и просили денег. Святошные игрища и гадания — остатки этого праздника древних. Обряды сохранились в народе и в последнее время становятся все более популярными. «Колядники» рядятся в одежды, изображают зверей, чертей, с музыкой, с торбами, в которые собирают угощения, ходят по улицам, поют колядки. Коляда - веселое, желанное божество.

Cabbage Pie!

Recipe:
Take any dough, ready from any shop.
 I'm doing this way:
- 1 pack of butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 pack of dry yeast (7-11 g)
- 1 teaspoon coarse salt
- 4-6 teaspoons of sugar
- Flour 2cup+2 cup

А вот сейчас печем пирог от Татьяны Толстой:

"Тесто берете любое, хоть готовое слоеное бездрожжевое мороженое. Я  же делаю так:

1 пачка масла Valio
1 стакан молока
Пол-палочки свежих дрожжей или пакетик сухих
1 чайная ложка грубой соли с верхом
4-6 чайных ложек сахару.

Visaginas. Center of National Cultures. Butterfly.

The shape of the city is meant to have looked like a butterfly, to symbolize the diversity and optimism that can be found there. But the third reactor was never built and the idea of finishing the butterfly is left for future generations.
Although the city has only two butterfly wings, people still do not lose their optimism and hope they will find a way to struggle through the hard times ahead and take advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings.

The All-Night Vigil (Russian: Всенощное бдение, Vsenoshchnoe bdenie), Opus 37, is an a cappella choral composition by Sergei Rachmaninoff, written and premiered in 1915. It consists of settings of texts taken from the Russian Orthodox All-night vigil ceremony.
In Russian practice, the All-Night Vigil is the standard Saturday evening service and usually consists of Vespers, Orthros, and the First Hour-though on certain feasts, it includes Great Compline instead of Vespers.

Lithuania 2011. St. Nicholas Day.

Today - St. Nicholas Day, December 6th (December 19 on the Julian Calendar)
Nicholas is the patron of sailors and prisoners. Along with St. Andrew, he is also the patron of Russia.
My dad - Nicholas (Nikolai) was born on December 19.
And icon of St. Nicholas hangs in my house in England, which my daughter Alena gave me.

Мой папа - Николай, родился 19 декабря.
А в моем английском доме висит иконка Святого Николая-Николай Чудотворец, которую подарила мне моя дочь Алена.

Lithuania. Christmas Tree from Plastic Bottles.

On 04.12.2011 in Kaunas, Lithuania was presented different Christmas city tree, which is made of 40 thousands ‘SPRITE’ plastic bottles. The author of idea, Jolanta Smidtienė, saying that she wanted to show how it is important to be different each year, show to everyone that each of us can make something beautiful from useless things. The most important thing is to save trees and nature.

В Каунасе (Литва) на Ратушной площади Старого города зажглась необычная новогодняя елка - она сконструирована из переработанных пластиковых бутылок, являясь своеобразным символом экологического подхода к обустройству среды обитания человека.

На создание 13-метровой красавицы пошло 32 тыс. пластиковых бутылок изумрудного цвета. Благодаря ручной работе они совершенно поменяли свои формы. У елки имеется звезда, в которую создатели поместили прибор с лазерными лучами.

Автором проекта стала художница Иоланта Шмидтене, благодаря оригинальным решениям которой главная елка Каунаса уже не раз признавалась лучшей в стране, превосходя даже столичные.

Lithuania 2011. Santa Claus lights the Christmas tree.

At its usual place - in the middle of the square Santarves in Visaginas, there was the beautiful Christmas tree. And today Santa lit up the Christmas tree!

На своем привычном месте - в центре площади Сантарвес, в Висагинасе- появилась красавица-ель.

Carrot cake in Visaginas.

We bought the ceramic cake pan and Brian made two carrot cakes, one for us the other for our friends.

Мы купили керамическую форму здесь в Висагинасе. Испекли кекс...вернее два. И угощали друзей. Так что Брайан не скучает и здесь.

Брайан печет его часто и можно поверить мне на слово - это самый лучший рецепт морковного кекса/торта.
Он (кекс/торт) получается как раз в меру влажный, легкий и вкусный.
Итак (рецепт):
